The representative of the Bureau has participated at the VIII-th reunion of the EU-Moldova Association Committee in Trade Configuration

17.12.2021, Chisinau – The representative of the Bureau for Policies of Reintegration, head of the Section for projects of assistance Evgheni Cara, has participated at the meeting dedicated to the territorial enforcing of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement by implementing commercial facilities  in the Eastern region of the country, within the 8th meeting of the EU-Moldova Association Committee in Trade configuration taking place in a virtual format under the helm of the Ministry of Economy as coordinating center for the Republic of Moldova.

 

The main achievements in the implementation of commitments following from the EU-Moldova Association Agreement, the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement and the roadmaps for trading facilitation and insurance of preferential access for goods and services originating from the EU on both banks of river Nistru have been addressed during the meeting.

 

The socio-economic situation in the region has been reviewed, especially in the context of provocations created by the COVID-19 pandemic and the specific regional situation, the support and assistance measures offered by the national competent authorities to the relevant stakeholders in the region and the efforts to bring the activity of entrepreneurs in the East of the country within the frames of national legislation. The desideratum to harmonize economic and commercial requirements from both banks to the rigors of the EU space and simultaneously reconstitute the unified space and eliminate artificially persisting barriers has been reiterated. 

 

Likewise, it has been underlined that the implementation of agreements between Chisinau and Brussels and the offered facilities led to the achievement of tangible results. Among these are the recording of more than 2210 businesses with headquarters on the left bank of river Nistru and Bender municipality in the State Registry of legal entities and individual entrepreneurs, around 57% of the exports of the Transnistrian region is directed towards the EU and others.

 

Some subjects that appear on the agenda of working groups for economy, with the participation of experts from both banks of river Nistru (interaction in the sanitary and phytosanitary field, elimination of technical barriers for trading and the protection of consumer rights) have also been discussed during the meeting.
