Prime Minister Iurie Leanca today participated in the ceremony dedicated to the professional holiday, Lawyer's Day
The prime minister conveyed a message of congratulations and good wishes to all professionals in the legal system in Moldova, regardless of their career branch and field.
"You have the mission to support and promote democratic values; to ensure and guarantee the rule of law, mandatory for building a democratic state; to reform the justice sector, aligning it to European standards, and thus - to contribute to European integration and to create a positive image of our country, "said Iurie Leanca.
The prime minister also referred to the problems in the system, as well as the need to transform state institutions and to fight corruption: "During recent years, the government has implemented numerous policies designed to reform the rule of law and ensure appropriate working conditions for those employed in the field, but also for citizens asking for justice. I am counting on the fact that you will act more in the interest of the citizens, not the system. I am counting on the decrease in numbers of jurists opposing reforms, either out of fear for their own office, in bad faith or lack of professionalism."
The official also mentioned the fact that in the absence of fair and credible judicial system, Moldova's economy would be deprived of substantial investments, and a lack of investment meant no employment for citizens, as well as a lack of perspective for the country.
In the end, Iurie Leanca conveyed a message of encouragement, noting that in order to have a fair justice system, it was necessary that each employee of the legal system to make use of their experience and capabilities to change the state of the system, for the people to know that justice could be done in Moldova.
