Prime Minister Iurie Leanca met the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe’s (PACE) co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee

The officials addressed the reforms under way in Moldova, European agenda and regional situation, and social inclusion of national minorities. Leanca referred to the social and economic evolutions in Moldova in the context of expectations to implement reforms, including the Association Agreement with the European Union and setting up of the Free Trade Area.

 

Iurie Leanca underlined that the Moldovan government was decided to get to the end the justice reform, process of fighting corruption, to develop the Moldovan economy and national infrastructure. „We have the support of the European Union in this respect, what is a determinant factor,” Leanca said.

 

For their part, the PACE co-rapporteurs highlighted that Moldova was passing through a very important stage in its development and implementation of reforms had a decisive role in this respect. At the same time, the officials informed about the fact that a monitoring report on Moldova was working out, which would be examined by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe after the 30 November parliamentary polls.

 

The European officials also met President Nicolae Timofti, Parliament Speaker Igor Corman, the heads of the parliamentary factions and leaders of the political parties, as well as the leadership of the Constitutional Court and Central Electoral Commission.
