Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, early in the morning, had a telephone talk with his Polish counterpart Donald Tusk, designated to the post of President of the European Council on 30 August 2014.

Leanca congratulated Donald Tusk, highlighting that the new President of the European Council was a big friend of Moldova.

Leanca wished Tusk every success in this extremely responsible office for the future of the European continent and voiced confidence that the Polish official had all qualities necessary to solve the deep crisis in the region.

Leanca invited Donald Tusk to visit Moldova in the near future, in order to concretise the calendar of the European prospect.

The two officials also referred briefly to the European Union’s assistance for justice reform, as well as the Polish credit recently provided to the Moldovan farmers, namely to provide an increased degree of flexibility and diminish bureaucracy for farmers. The prime minister of Poland, one of the states that came up with the initiative to launch the Eastern Partnership, underlined that Poland would continue backing Moldova to implement reforms and the European integration.

Donald Tusk will take over the mandate of President of the European Council on 1 December 2014.
