Moldovan, Greek officials approach bilateral cooperation

Athens, July 2 - Ways of boosting bilateral cooperation in areas such as economy, health, culture, energy and social protection were discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Greek President Ekaterini Sakellaropoulou.

 

The officials also talked about the beginning of negotiations on Moldova's accession to the European Union and the importance of the support of the EU member states.

 

"The support we have received so far motivates us to continue the reforms we are implementing at home, for the benefit of our citizens, and to contribute to peace and security in the region," he said.

 

Recean and the head of state of Greece discussed the implementation of joint projects, beneficial for the citizens of both countries, and the expansion of bilateral relations.

 

The Republic of Moldova and the Hellenic Republic have signed 27 international treaties regulating the following areas: air services, economic, technological and scientific cooperation, promotion and mutual protection of investments, consular issues, social security, avoidance of double taxation, cooperation in culture, education, customs administration, tourism and readmission.
