Acting Prime Minister Gheorghe Brega today chaired a meeting of the inter-departmental commission for humanitarian assistance. The participants in the meeting considered the process of distribution of the humanitarian aid received by Moldova.

The commission members ascertained problems in the distribution of consumables, medication and medical devices to republican and district medical institutions. The participants also stressed the need to ensure transparency in providing the concerned services.

The commission members established the importance to introduce the expertise of conformity of second-hand medical equipment, in order to check the latter's functionality and not to allow import of electronic waste to Moldova.

The participants in the meeting also discussed the way the territorial commissions for humanitarian assistance are working. Thus, the commission members ruled to verify their activity in a three-month period, in order to optimize and enhance cooperation with the competent central public administration bodies in the sector.

Another subject of the meeting was focused on the sale of second-hand footwear and toys. The acting prime minister reminded that this was prohibited under the law and asked the institutions in charge to monitor the situation in this respect.

The inter-department commission for humanitarian assistance has the task to coordinate the process of cooperation of state institutions with public organisations, donors and receivers/distributors of humanitarian aid.
