Meeting of Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrei Rudenko

The current situation in the process of Transnistrian settlement, aspects of the dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol, as well as the problems faced by citizens on both banks of the Nistru River have been among the subjects discussed today during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister for reintegration, Oleg Serebrian, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Andrei Rudenko, accompanied by Ambassador-at-Large of the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation Vitaly Tryapitsyn, who came to the Republic of Moldova on a working visit.

 

Referring to the priorities of Chisinau in the process of negotiations, Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian has highlighted the following as essential: resumption and maintenance of an active dynamic in all negotiation formats, elimination of barriers to free movement, ensuring permanent access to agricultural lands from the Dubăsari district and proper functioning of the Romanian language teaching school, restoring the potential for work of the vehicle registration points from the left bank of Nistru River, promoting efficient measures of preventing and combatting COVID-19 etc.

 

Chisinau's willingness to join in the next round of 5+2 negotiations, as well as a new Bavarian conference on confidence-building measures, was also announced.

 

During the discussion, the participants reaffirmed their steadfast commitment to working toward a peaceful and long-term solution to the Transnistrian issue. This procedure should occur in tandem with the feasible resolution of concerns that affect the legitimate interests of people on both sides of the Nistru River.
