Deputy Prime Minister for reintegration Oleg Serebrian had a meeting with the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Yan Wenbin.
The two officials exchanged views on the current geopolitical situation in the Black Sea region and the effects of the war in Ukraine on regional and global security. Special attention was paid to the Transnistrian file. Deputy Prime Minister Serebrian made a presentation of the dynamics in the dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol, of the support measures offered by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova for its citizens from the eastern districts of the country. The most current problems that persist in the negotiation process were highlighted. Deputy Prime Minister Serebrian reiterated Chisinau's determination to resolve the Transnistrian conflict peacefully, denying the alarmist messages coming from Tiraspol lately. It was also mentioned that the legal provisions regarding the fight against separatism, adopted today by the legislature in Chisinau, will in no way be an impediment to the continuation of the dialogue regarding the solution of the problem of the eastern districts of the country.
Regarding the "5+2" negotiation format, Oleg Serebrian reiterated the fact that during the war in Ukraine it will remain inoperable.
The Ambassador Yan Wenbin reconfirmed the support of the People's Republic of China for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.
