Japanese companies invited to invest in Moldova

6 June 2024, Chișinău - The turning to account of economic and investment opportunities, the latest developments in the region and the consolidation of the close relations with Japan were discussed at a meeting of Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Vice Minister of Finance for International. Affairs at the Japanese Ministry of Finance Masato Kanda, on a visit to Chisinau on 5-6 June.

 

The PM appreciated the consistent support provided by Japan to Moldova during years, which helps Moldova achieve the goals of improvement of the people’s living standards. In this respect, the prime minister emphasized the cooperation in the agriculture sector, the health one, as well as other key fields for the country’s modernization.   

 

At the same time, PM Dorin Recean reiterated the importance of turning to good account the potential of economic cooperation between the two states. He reiterated Moldova’s interest in the attraction of new Japanese investments in the IT sector and the creative industry, automotive industry, renewable energy, production and processing of agricultural products, medicine and electronics.    

 

„The government builds the infrastructures and the conditions necessary for the entrepreneurs who come to invest in Moldova. We are a safe country for the development of prosperous businesses; we provide access to the European Union’s market and work in order to make the business activity as simple and profitable as possible,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.  

 

The officials also referred to the cooperation in the tourism sector and the progress made in the trade field. In 2023, the Moldovan-Japanese bilateral commerce increased and the export of Moldovan products to the Japanese market grew by 27 per cent. Among the exported goods, there are textile articles, wines and among the imported ones, there are vehicles for carrying people, agricultural and medical equipment.  

 

According to PM Dorin Recean, Moldova’s participation in Expo Osaka 2025 will boost the promotion of the made in Moldova products on the Japanese market and would make more known the business opportunities from Moldova for the Japanese business environment.
