Government to provide needed assistance to Moldovans affected by tragic accident in Romania

The cabinet of ministers, at a proposal by Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet,  started the today government meeting by standing still for a minute in the memory of the victims of a tragic traffic accident that occurred in Romania today morning. Five Moldovans were killed in the wake of the accident.

 

"I was very saddened to learned about the accident which took place in Romania. Unfortunately, we have dead persons, among whom children too, the information is being specified. Our duty is to react promptly, cooperate with colleagues from Romania, to take care of the injured and hospitalised citizens," Valeriu Strelet said.

 

The prime minister asked all the competent state institutions to get involved in providing the needed assistance to the accident's casualties and their family members. "I demand creation of a crisis cell, due to cooperate with our embassy in Bucharest. Any information is to be provided to the Foreign Ministry immediately. As far as possible, employees of the  diplomatic missions from Romania's capital should visit the injured at the hospitals where they were put. Contact should be kept also with the families of the victims of the accident," Valeriu Strelet. 

 

Also, the prime minister demanded that the Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service ensure further connection with the emergency rescue service of Romania (SMURD). "I ask the Health Ministry to delegate one physician to the hospitals where the injured were put each, the Transport Ministry to make all the needed arrangements for the repatriation of the dead. The victims' relatives are to be provided with transport, if they want to go to the site," the prime minister said.

 

At the same time, Strelet asked for being informed in due time about the development of the events.

 

The traffic accidents occurred nearby the village of Baldovinesti, Braila county, Romania, today morning. The coach with 36 people on board overturned.
