The representative of the Bureau of Reintegration Policies, Aurelia Barbaroș, head of the Department of Sectoral Policies of Reintegration, jointly with the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education and Research Adriana Cazacu-Țigaie and the head of the General Education Directorate of the same ministry Valentin Crudu, visited 4 institutions teaching in Romanian from Dubasari district, namely:
- Theoretical High School "Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt" from Grigoriopol, temporarily settled in the village of Doroțcaia;
- “Mihai Eminescu” Theoretical High School, from Dubasari, temporarily located in the village of Corjova;
- “Constantin Sucitu” Gymnasium, Corjova village, and
- Roghi Gymnasium.
During the discussions with the management of the educational institutions and the teaching staff, current issues in the process of functioning of the schools were addressed.
In this context, all measures taken by the Bureau of Reintegration Policies and the Ministry of Education and Research to ensure the proper functioning of schools were announced. Mention was made of the full openness to overcome all the difficulties the schools face, especially given that the field of activity is very specific.
A special topic in the discussions was the implementation of the Protocol Decision "On ensuring the functioning of Moldovan schools teaching in Latin script", signed on November 25, 2017, where several key issues were highlighted. The issue of insurance with their own premises was also discussed, especially since the Theoretical High School "Ștefan cel Mare şi Sfânt" and the Theoretical High School "Mihai Eminescu" are temporarily located in other localities than the ones in which they are based. However, the lack of predictability, the temporary arrangement of the spaces that do not belong to them, the lack of their own premises, do not fall within the observance of the right to education and do not stimulate the creation of a fully favorable educational environment.
On the other hand, the premises become a more stringent issue when it is found that some of them do not have gyms, festivity halls, canteens, the classrooms are small and non-compliant, the buildings are obsolete and outdated, as well as a whole series of many other problematic aspects.
Head of Department Aurelia Barbaroș and Secretary of State Adriana Cazacu-Țigaie reconfirmed that the issue of providing premises in order to create favorable, adequate, safe and predictable conditions is a key one in the dialogue process with Tiraspol, including on the platform of working groups for education. Assurances have been given that all necessary efforts will be made to resolve this problem, which has unfortunately become a historic one.
In fact, it is worth mentioning that the issue of endowment with their own premises is pressing for all Romanian-language educational institutions in the Transnistrian region, with the sole exception of the gymnasium in the city of Bender.
It was agreed to continue a permanent dialogue, first of all in the interest of the 810 children studying in these 4 educational institutions.
