5 July 2025, Chișinău - For the first time, the Republic of Moldova hosted the Republic of Moldova-European Union Summit, a historic moment that reconfirms the political and financial support of the European Union.

Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, were present in Chișinău.

‘This historic event reaffirms the political and financial support of the European Union, as well as its efforts to stand by and help our citizens. It is also a response to the results Moldova is delivering in the process of transforming and modernising the entire country, as well as a strong message of solidarity that Moldova is not alone in facing the unprecedented challenges, we face both externally and internally," said Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov.

The leaders of the EU institutions and the Republic of Moldova discussed the accession process, political dialogue and reforms, economic growth and sectoral cooperation, combating hybrid threats and strengthening resilience, as well as regional and international security challenges.
