The experts from the working groups for environmental protection and economy gathered in a joint session

On December 22, in the premises of the OSCE Mission in Moldova in Chisinau, a joint session of the working groups on environmental protection and economy took place via video conference, with the participation of the mediators and observers in the negotiation process.

 

Discussions focused on issues related to ensuring compliance by economic agents in the Transnistrian region within the legislation of the Republic of Moldova in the field of environmental protection and the economy.

 

In the context, topics were addressed with reference to the identification of solutions for reflecting greenhouse gas emissions in the energy and non-energy sectors from the project of the Integrated National Plan in the field of Energy and Climate and in the Determined National Contribution, updated according to their distribution on both banks of the Nistru River, as well as the reporting of data required to be submitted under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution.

 

At the same time, representatives of the competent authorities in Chisinau provided clarification regarding the licensing requirements for activities related to the production, trade, storage, and import of ethyl alcohol and alcoholic products. They explained the legal procedures that economic agents in the region should follow to obtain permits for entrepreneurial activities.

 

Also, within the dialogue, experts from Chisinau provided clear responses to topics concerning the export, re-export, import, and transit of strategic goods carried out by companies in the Transnistrian region.

 

Chisinau has emphasized the importance of integrating the activities of economic agents from the left bank of the Nistru River and their gradual integration into the unique economic and commercial space, in the context of the ongoing negotiations for the Republic of Moldova's accession to the European Union.

 

Experts agreed on the necessity of maintaining a continuous dialogue on issues related to the fields of the economy and the environment, aiming to identify pertinent solutions for addressing the problems of citizens and economic agents on both banks of the Nistru River, in accordance with the requirements of the regulatory framework.

 

The session was convened at the initiative of the delegation from Chisinau.
