20th March 2024, Bruxelles - Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov participated in the event "The Future of Moldova and Ukraine in the EU", organised in Brussels by the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change. Alongside the event, she met with Olha Stefanishyna, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine.

 

In her speech, Deputy Prime Minister Gherasimov highlighted the government's substantial progress in implementing the reform agenda, aimed at expediting Moldova's EU accession despite the challenging regional circumstances due to Russia's aggressive and unjustified war against Ukraine.

 

She also emphasized the progress made in addressing the latest three recommendations from the European Commission, reiterating Chisinau's expectation of continued strong support from European partners going forward, particularly in swiftly adopting the negotiation framework.

During the event, Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Gherasimov also met with Olha Stefanishyna, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, to discuss the European trajectory of both countries.

 

"We agreed to continue our close collaboration on European affairs. I am confident that through our joint efforts, we will succeed in integrating the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine into the larger family of democracies on the continent. I also assured my counterpart of our unwavering solidarity and that the Republic of Moldova will support Ukraine for as long as necessary", stated Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Gherasimov.
