Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Gherasimov's Address at the Inauguration of the Statistics Workshop: ”It Presents an Exceptional Opportunity for Specialists from the Republic of Moldova to Embrace Best Practices from EU Member States”
20th February, Chisinau - Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov participated in the commencement of the workshop titled "Enhancing Official Statistics in the Context of EU Accession," organized by the National Bureau of Statistics in collaboration with EUROSTAT and the EU Delegation to Moldova.
In her address, Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Gherasimov underscored the significance of enhancing statistical capacity as a crucial preparatory measure for EU accession. This initiative marks a pivotal stride towards harmonization with European benchmarks and readiness for accession negotiations.
"This workshop serves as an invaluable platform for Moldovan experts to glean insights from the statistical institutions of EU member states," remarked Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Gherasimov.
"Statistics furnish an impartial evaluation of progress in aligning with EU norms and prerequisites. They are pivotal for policy formulation, monitoring, and strategic allocation of resources. Furthermore, throughout the accession process, statistics serve as a cornerstone for negotiations with the EU and for reporting on the candidate country's advancement," she expounded.
Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Gherasimov urged attendees to leverage the workshop optimally, deeming it a pivotal stride in fortifying transparent, efficient, and accountable institutions.
