Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Gherasimov engaged in discussions in Budapest regarding Hungary's priorities for the upcoming EU Presidency

7th May 2024, Budapest - During her working visit to Budapest, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gherasimov, engaged in discussions with several high-level Hungarian officials regarding Moldova's European aspirations. On Monday, she met with Istvan Jakab, Deputy Speaker of the Budapest Parliament, Zsolt Semjén, Deputy Prime Minister, and Peter Szijjarto, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.

 

Discussions centred on Hungary's priorities for the upcoming Presidency of the European Union, which it will assume in the second half of this year, as well as the actions planned by the government in Chisinau during this period to advance the European agenda. Cristina Gherasimov also expressed gratitude for the support received from Hungary on Moldova's European journey.

 

"I highlighted the significant role of the Strategic Partnership between our countries in strengthening political dialogue and economic relations. We are committed to its development and enhancement. Furthermore, we seek to draw from Hungary's accession experience as one of the ten countries that joined the European Union 20 years ago", stated the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration during the meetings in Budapest.
