15th March 2024, Berlin - During a working visit to Berlin, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov held discussions with Anna Lührmann, Minister of State for Europe and Climate. The officials delved into the Government's priorities and commitment to execute the requisite reforms in line with the three latest recommendations of the European Commission, ensuring a dynamic negotiation process.

 

Highlighting the prevailing security context in the Republic of Moldova due to Russia's conflict with Ukraine, Deputy Prime Minister Gherasimov underscored the significance of Moldova's accession to the European Union. This, she emphasized, would serve as a guarantee of peace and security while equipping the country with stronger tools to address contemporary threats.

 

Within this framework, Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Gherasimov articulated Moldova's reliance on Germany's support for the swift adoption of the negotiating framework by the EU Council and for organizing the inaugural intergovernmental conference to formally commence accession negotiations in the near future.

 

Deputy Prime Minister Gherasimov underscored the pivotal nature of the partnership between Berlin and Chisinau in Moldova's European trajectory, expressing gratitude for the steadfast support from Germany.
