The unauthorized works carried out by Tiraspol representatives on the side of the road linking Varniţa and Bender were discussed at the meeting of the Joint Control Commission on 23 November 2023.

The weekly report of the Joint Military Command was not signed, as it again did not provide a truthful picture of the situation in the Security Zone.

Thus, the irregularities reported to the military observers by the head of the Varnița police sector were not included, who pointed out that, although Tiraspol’s exponents had previously declared that crossings through the alleged safety parapet would be provided, these crossings were not made. At the same time, concrete blocks installed in 2020 under the pretext of fighting the pandemic were not removed.

Simultaneously, the management of the Bender Police Inspectorate announced an increase in the number of complaints regarding restriction to free movement in the area with an increased security regime. Residents are also concerned about Tiraspol’s actions that continue the abusive works on the section between the streets of Maţnev and 27 Aprilie.

In this context, the Moldovan delegation made an appeal to cease unilateral actions causing tensions in the Security Zone and to adopt a decision capable of ensuring compliance with the principles laid down in the Agreement of 21 July 1992.
