The Joint Control Commission resumed on December 8 in Bender the discussions on the issue of the posts of the Transnistrian force structures that were improperly installed in the Security Zone.
The Joint Military Command has noted their presence in its report for the period November 30-December 6, 2022.
Representatives of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, who carried out 12 monitoring visits to the Security Zone during November, also confirmed the existence of illegal posts with armed personnel and concrete obstacles, as well as sandbags at the entrances/exits to/from several localities. An illegal mobile post of the so-called ‘border guards’ was observed at the western border of Gasca locality: the road leading to the village of Zolotievca was blocked with wire and other improvised materials.
Given that the situation in the Security Zone remains complicated due to the functioning of these illegal posts, the Moldovan delegation recalled that according to the Agreement of July 21, 1992 and its statute, the Joint Control Commission is empowered to ensure order and security in the area of responsibility of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces. It was pointed out that any unilateral action taken without the consent of the Joint Control Commission, such as the establishment of additional posts and armed personnel, is a serious violation of the basic acts of the peacekeeping operation on the Nistru river.
In this context, the Moldovan delegation demanded during the meeting the cessation of abusive actions and unconditional removal of illegal Tiraspol’s posts from the Security Zone.
Discussions on the subject will continue on December, 15.
