The weekly meeting of the Joint Control Commission was held on October 13, in Bender.

During the discussions on the report of the Joint Military Command on the situation in the Security Zone for the period October 5-11, 2022, it was found that this act has not been signed by the military commanders due to some formulations promoted by Transnistrian representatives, that are unacceptable for the acts of the Peacekeeping Mission.  Also, the Transnistrian representatives try to resume the vicious practice of camouflaging the real situation at the illegal posts, more exactly of not reflecting the appearance of the modules for housing the personnel. Bringing the modules denotes that the posts are intended to be maintained for a long period of time.

The delegation of the Republic of Moldova submitted new proposals, through which it reaffirmed its position regarding the withdrawal of illegal posts, also expressing its concern that these represent an obvious danger to human life.

In the context, a tragic consequence was elucidated of the illegally installed posts in the Security Zone, more precisely a road accident. A car crashed violently on the night of October 8 into a concrete block of such an illegally post installed on the road at the entrance in Rabnita. As a result, the driver died on the spot, and the passenger arrived at the hospital with serious injuries.

Thus, the danger of abusive posts was demonstrated, with regret, also by this case resulting in a human victim.

In its address, the delegation of the Republic of Moldova appealed to all participants of the Joint Control Commission to give fair appreciation to the unilateral actions that caused the tragedy and to force the Transnistrian force structures to withdraw their posts from the area of responsibility of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces.

Remembering that in April 2022, the Transnistrian force structures, under a vain pretext of ‘terrorist threat’, placed on the roads and in the localities from the Security Zone about 50 new posts with armed personnel.

These abuses were committed due to Tiraspol's open disregard of the decisions of the Joint Control Commission, in particular a protocol from 2007, which prohibits the installation of posts in the Security Zone in addition to the existing ones.

The presence of the posts was documented by the military observers of the Joint Military Command, and also by the monitoring teams of the OSCE Mission in Moldova.

From the beginning, the delegation of the Republic of Moldova highlighted the illegal nature of the posts and constantly demanded their withdrawal.

Tiraspol, however, refuses to comply with the acts of the peacekeeping mission and defies a consensus in approving a solution to end the violations.
