Cybercor Institute received first batch of equipment

Chisinau, April 29 - Cybercor National Institute of Cybersecurity Innovations, which is to train specialists in cybersecurity, received today the first batch of equipment. It was provided by the USAID and is part of a donation of $600 thousand.

 

The first batch of equipment includes computers, servers, data processing centers, network devices and other components. Attending the event were Prime Minister Dorin Recean, USAID Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman, US Ambassador to Moldova Kent Logsdon and other officials.

 

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of ensuring cybersecurity and urged people not to underestimate the risks it poses. 

 

He stressed the need for cybersecurity research and training, including for public sector employees, so that we can protect ourselves from possible cyber attacks.

 

The Prime Minister thanked the US Government and private companies for supporting the project. The total value of the investment made by USAID, Sweden and the UK through the Future Technologies Project is $1.3 million. 600 thousand for IT equipment and 700 thousand for essential infrastructure.

 

Cybercor Institute is built on the territory of the Technical University of Moldova and focuses on two main elements, aimed at increasing the skilled workforce in the cybersecurity. It is about an academic programme and practical laboratories, which will be launched in autumn 2024.
