26 May 2025, Chișinău - Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov met with Georg Georgiev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, who is on an official visit to Chișinău.

The discussions focused on the progress made on our country's European agenda, but also on what we can learn from Bulgaria's experience in the accession process. ‘From attracting European funds to improving the daily lives of citizens, Bulgaria has many lessons and best practices from which we can draw inspiration’, said Cristina Gherasimov.

The Deputy Prime Minister welcomed the opening in Taraclia - on the Day of Saints Cyril and Methodius, the feast of the Cyrillic alphabet and Slavic culture - of the branch of the ‘Angel Kanchev’ University in Ruse.

‘This initiative reconfirms that our country upholds a fundamental principle of the EU - minority rights are protected, respected and promoted, including through access to education in mother tongue and preservation of cultural identity. We thank the authorities in Sofia for standing by our side and supporting us so that we are better prepared for the steps we have to take from now on our way to the EU’, said Cristina Gherasimov.
