14 November 2024, Luxembourg - Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov had a meeting with Mariana Kotzeva, Director General of the Eurostat, and discussed the progress made by our country over the last year in the field of national statistics. The meeting took place in Luxembourg, where this week, together with members of the European Commission, the statistical data produced by the Republic of Moldova are being analysed.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, among the most important achievements are our country's efforts to conduct the 2024 Population and Housing Census: ‘Its results will help us to develop more effective policies, based on accurate and reliable data, in key areas such as demography, social development and infrastructure’.

The discussions also included the priorities of the Republic of Moldova in the process of implementing the 2023-2030 Development Strategy of the National Statistical System and how Eurostat could support us in its realisation.

The Deputy Prime Minister thanked Mariana Kotzeva for the support given to the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova and other public institutions in the process of modernisation of the national statistical system: ‘By improving the capacity to analyse and interpret data, we will have a better understanding of the social and economic reality of the country and we will be able to adapt public policies more effectively to the needs of the people’.
