23 January 2025, Brussels - Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov had a meeting with Gert Jan Koopman, Director-General of the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations.

'We discussed the progress made on the chapters of Cluster 1 - Fundamentals, as well as the next steps on the negotiations agenda, and the needs and the methods to support citizens in order to overcome the energy crisis', said Cristina Gherasimov.

The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the importance of strengthening energy independence with the support of the EU: 'This must be the last winter when we are still threatened with cold and darkness, the EU is supporting us in finding sustainable solutions together'.
