Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gherasimov, met today Bernard Quintin, Belgium's new Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Foreign Trade and the Federal Cultural Institutions.

The officials exchanged their views on the political developments within the European Union and the progress made this year by the Republic of Moldova on its European path. They also discussed priorities for 2025, especially in the context of the new mandate of the European Commission.

'I have expressed our gratitude to the Belgian authorities for supporting us and for the fact that during the first half of this year, when Belgium held the rotating Presidency of the Council, we managed to take concrete steps in the EU accession process – we completed the explanatory screening phase, and organised the first Intergovernmental Conference. We will continue to cooperate closely in order to succeed in making the necessary transformations in the country and to improve the quality of life of all our citizens', said Cristina Gherasimov.
