Cooperation with the UN Agencies was the subject of discussions with the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration

The Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Olga Cebotari, had a courtesy meeting today with the UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Moldova, Simon Springett, and the UN Agencies that implement assistance programs in our country, including in the Transnistrian region.

 

The Representatives of the UN Agencies talked about the implemented programs and expressed openness to expand collaboration on various topics of common interest.

 

"We have a partnership framework for 2018-2022 sustainable development that is fully aligned with the national development priorities and aspirations – a document that provides funding worth almost 160 million dollars. In addition, the UN system has developed an ambitious plan to assist in recovery from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, which also includes activities in the Transnistrian region”, said Simon Springett, the UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Moldova.

 

The Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Olga Cebotari, thanked for the development assistance provided to the Republic of Moldova and informed about the Government's priorities in the Transnistrian settlement process. The Deputy Prime Minister expressed interest to continue cooperation for the benefits of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova on both banks of the Nistru river. She also stated that a continuous dialogue is necessary in order to increase trust between the two banks. The need for assistance to the Bureau for Reintegration and possible new areas of cooperation were likewise addressed. 

 

The meeting was attended by the UN Resident Coordinator, the UNDP Resident Representative, representatives of IOM, UNFPA, UN Women, WHO, the UN Office for Human Rights, UNICEF and UNODC.
