26 July 2024, Chisinau - The Bureau for European Integration announces the continuation of simulation sessions in preparation for bilateral presentations, a key component of the accession negotiations with the European Union. The workshop, held at the Ministry of Justice on 25-26 July, focused on country presentations concerning the chapter „Functioning of Democratic Institutions” and chapter 23 „Judiciary and Fundamental Rights”, both falling under Cluster 1.

BEI was represented by Rodica Crudu, Secretary of State for European Integration, and Ghenadie Marian, Head of the Bureau, alongside representatives from more than 30 institutions, which are part of the two working groups engaged in the European integration process.

The discussions were organised into thematic blocks, with a particular focus on the efficiency and transparency of the judicial system in the Republic of Moldova, aiming to align it with European Union standards. The working groups benefited from the expertise of Elona Bano, Director of the Directorate of Integration and Negotiations, Ministry of Justice of Albania.

These preparatory exercises are crucial for the upcoming bilateral screening meetings organised by the European Commission.

The workshop was supported by the EU-funded project ,,Support for Structured Political Dialogue, Coordination of the Implementation of the Association Agreement, and Strengthening the Process of Harmonisation of Legislation for the Republic of Moldova”.
