Brief presentation

Aiming to stimulate the settlement process and to create an additional mechanism, which would contribute to decrease tensions between Chisinau and Tiraspol, in October 2007 were launched a series of initiatives to strengthen confidence and security between the two banks of the Nistru River.

Thus, on October 31, 2007, by the Government Decision no.1178 the eight working groups were created, in order to promote confidence-building measures and security in the context of the Transnistrian settlement process.

Currently there are 11 working groups created, as follows: on the economy; on education; telecommunications and postal services; on civil status documents and aspects of population evidence; on human rights; on combating criminality and emergencies; on agriculture and environment protection; on car transport and infrastructure development; on healthcare; on the social issues and humanitarian aid; on customs issues, and 3 subgroups: on banking issues; on railway transport and communications and meetings of the experts on veterinary and phytosanitary issues.

The working groups created between Chisinau and Tiraspol has the purpose to implement joint projects, with the support of the international partners, in the social-economic, humanitarian and security fields for the benefit of the population from both banks of the Nistru River, and, at the same time, to create favorable conditions for the negotiation process for the Transnistrian settlement.
