The Baltic countries express support for Moldova's European aspirations

22nd April 2024, Chisinau - During the Forum "Europe’s boundaries: enlargement in an era of war and alliances" convened from 10-12 April in Tallinn, Estonia, discussions centred around enhancing the strategic partnership with EU Member States, grappling with key challenges along the European path, and exchanging best practices, drawing from the Baltic countries' experiences with EU accession.Representatives from the Bureau for European Integration in Chisinau, alongside officials from Ukraine, Armenia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Finland, participated in the event.

 

The Moldovan delegation outlined the country's advancements in administrative reforms and progress in implementing recommendations from the European Commission. They also addressed critical challenges in aligning with European legislation and the impact of the conflict in Ukraine on the EU accession process.

 

During the Forum, officials from the Baltic States reaffirmed their staunch support for Moldova's European aspirations and commended notable strides in reform efforts. Furthermore, they pledged their backing for the proposal to convene the first EU-Moldova Intergovernmental Conference during the Belgian Presidency.

 

In this context, the Chisinau delegation reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to advance steadily towards European integration. They expressed gratitude to European partners for their support, underscoring the invaluable opportunity to exchange best practices and fortify partnerships with EU Member States.
