The aim was to assess the implementation level of the Action Plan on the enforcement of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security for 2018-2021 and the prospects for drafting a new National Program and Action Plan for the next period of reference.

At the beginning of the event, the Country Representative of UN Women in Moldova, Dominika Stojanoska, the Head of the Bureau for Reintegration Policies, Alin Gvidiani, and the Team Leader of the national consultants’ team, Cristina Lesnic, expressed their greetings.

During his speech, Alin Gvidiani cordially thanked the participating institutions for their involvement and openness. In particular, Gvidiani conveyed sincere gratitude to all partners and experts who have continuously driven all the processes and are dedicated to the issue. It was noted that the Bureau, as a partner institution in the process of implementing the first national policy document, is fully open to completing the initiated exercise and developing further cooperation with a view to better mainstream gender perspective in various sectors and involve women in generating qualitative and innovative decisions.

The workshop provided an overview of initiated activities and those already fulfilled under the Program and the Action Plan for 2018-2021, lessons learned, and encountered difficulties; formulated relevant conclusions and recommendations; and presented a Preliminary Evaluation Report for the respective endeavors.

Subsequently, all the participants have been divided into working groups for discussing the potential priorities to be reflected in the new National Program to enforce the Resolution 1325. Necessary steps to be taken in this regard have been highlighted with the assistance provided by the UN Women national consultants’ team.

It should be reminded that the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security was unanimously adopted on October 31, 2000 and is the first international framework document to highlight the impact of conflict on women, recognizing the important role of women in establishing peace and ensuring security.
