The advancement of the Republic of Moldova's accession process to the European Union was deliberated upon at the Tallinn Group meeting held in Vilnius

18th May 2024, Vilnius - Representatives from the Bureau for European Integration (BEI) and the Moldovan Presidency participated in the session titled "Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova in preparation for EU accession negotiations: achievements, challenges, and needs," organized within the Tallinn Group in Vilnius, Lithuania. This event, held on 16th May, convened officials and experts from EU Member States to deliberate on the progress and challenges pertaining to EU enlargement.

 

During the session, Marinela Șeremet, Senior Consultant at the Bureau for European Integration, and Igor Zaharov, Adviser for European Affairs and Strategic Communication at the Presidency, outlined the current priorities and reforms undertaken by the authorities in Chisinau in the country's European trajectory. They also elucidated the role of the Office for European Integration in providing organizational and functional support to the Working Groups and public authorities involved in the EU accession process.

 

The session underscored the activities of the institutions involved, their existing administrative capacity, as well as the challenges and fundamental needs in the Euro-integration process and alignment with EU standards.

 

Members of the Tallinn Group commended the progress achieved by the Republic of Moldova in implementing reforms and expressed their steadfast support for our country's European aspirations.
