The 8th session of the Republic of Moldova - European Union Association Committee is taking place in Brussels

2 December 2024, Brussels - The 8th session of the Republic of Moldova - European Union Association Committee, co-chaired by Rodica Crudu, the State Secretary for European Integration, and Diana Jablońska, the Head of the Unit for Moldova, Ukraine and the Eastern Neighbourhood of the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR), is taking place in Brussels, with the participation of representatives from about 30 national authorities from Chisinau, as well as members of the European Commission.

 

The session was opened by Adrienne Kiraly, Director for Eastern Neighbourhood and Institution Building at DG NEAR, and Cristina Gherasimov, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration of the Republic of Moldova.

 

’The Republic of Moldova has made significant progress on its European path this year, and remains firm in its commitment to join the EU and improve the lives of its citizens. We will continue, with great commitment and determination, on our path towards the EU. We know that the transformations we are making in order to move closer to EU standards will first and foremost benefit our country and the people of Moldova’, said Cristina Gherasimov at the beginning of the event.

 

By the most important topics on the Committee's agenda, besides EU-Moldova cooperation under the Association Agreement, are: the progress made by the Republic of Moldova on its way to the EU; key reforms and challenges in the process of the country's transformation; the state of preparation for accession negotiations and the conclusions of the European Commission's Enlargement Report for 2024; cooperation with the EU in the economic, energy, health, education and agriculture fields. 

 

It is held annually and aims to assess the level of implementation of the Association Agreement, as well as to make recommendations for the future cooperation of our country with the European institutions.
