22 May 2025, Brussels - Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gherasimov, participated in the award ceremony for the pupils of the ‘Mihail Sadoveanu’ Theoretical High School from Chișinău, held in the European Parliament. The 30 pupils received the ‘Special Prize for Moldova’ in the international school competition dedicated to democracy in the digital age.

‘I was delighted to be with these young people at a proud moment for them, for their teachers and for our country. These are pupils who have been able to express their thoughts and vision on how new technologies are influencing democracy through their essays. These brave young people know that their voice counts and that European Moldova is built not only through their efforts but also through their successes’, said Cristina Gherasimov.

The contest is aimed to pupils from the EU Member States and is organised by the Authority for European Political Parties and European Political Foundations. The winner of this year's overall competition among the EU countries is the Sint-Rembert, Sint-Vincentius school group from Torhout, Belgium.

At the same time, in recognition of Moldova's progress in the EU accession process, a special edition of the competition for Moldovan pupils was launched, with 13 classes taking part. The theme proposed for the development of essays was ‘EU Democracy and Digital Transformation: Challenges and Opportunities’.
